An attractive 1868 French silver one-franc coin (fine) issued during the reign of Emperor Napoleon III (1852–1870), 
featuring his distinguished laureate portrait surrounded by the inscription NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR, 
while the reverse displays the magnificent crowned Imperial coat of arms with the Napoleonic eagle, 
an ornate ermine-lined mantle and crossed sceptres, 
beautifully capturing the grandeur of the Second French Empire just two years before its collapse in 1870.
