dating back to mid-Victorian period - circa 1870's,

this piece is set with a Banded Agate,
measuring 28mm x 23mm
surrounded by gold bezel
 
Crafted in 9K Yellow Gold,
with extraordinary attention to detail, including the twisted wire rope &
 
further surrounded by wide frame,
decorated with hand-painted black enamel Meander (Greek lines or Greek Key) pattern -
the unbroken, interlocking pattern, that symbolises infinity, unity & eternal flow of life through reproduction
 
"Greek lines" symbol was one of the most important symbols in Ancient Greece

Secures to the reverse with a pin,
& featuring a glass compartment,
as well as a bail (so the piece can potentially be worn as a pendant)
