This 925 Sterling Silver / Silver-Gilt and lavish Malachite
Five-Light Candelabra is by Asprey, London.
It rises from an octagonal base richly modelled
with scrolling acanthus foliage, supporting a tall tapered column
performed in opulent green malachite and framed by ornate foliate mounts.
Above, a finely modelled putto entwines itself around the stem,
while sweeping foliate branches terminate in five lavishly chased candle cups.
It is adorned with English hallmarks to the base:
maker mark - A&Co Ltd – Asprey & Co Ltd.,
along with import marks & 925 Sterling Silver stamp, c1959
The back of the putto / cherub is further stamped and hallmarked,
as well as the each of the drip pans.
