Born in 1916 Albury New South Wales Australia
Dermont James John Hellier studied at the early age
under Scottish artist Sarah Kyle in Sydney,
then at the National Gallery Victoria School under Charles Wheeler.
In 1942 Dermont joined the armed forces &
became a war artist during WWII.
Dermont is best known for his scenic coastal and snow landscapes.
He has held over 20 successful exhibitions Australia wide & overseas,
including an exhibition in 1966
at the Qantas Galleries West End London.
