This French 1873 5 Francs silver coin was issued by the Third Republic 
and features the celebrated Hercules Group design by Augustin Dupré. 
 
The obverse depicts Hercules uniting the allegorical figures 
of Liberty and Equality beneath the inscription LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ, 
while the reverse displays the denomination and date within an oak-and-laurel wreath. 
 
Struck in .900 fine silver, 
this substantial 19th-century crown is admired for its classical imagery, 
historic Republican symbolism and enduring appeal to collectors.
