A rare and highly evocative First World War (WWI) period wristwatch
by Rolex, housed in a 925 Sterling Silver Officer’s Case
attributed to the renowned London case importer George Stockwell of Stockwell & Co -
agents arranging for Swiss made cases to be hallmarked in British assay offices.
The timepiece is extremely rare (especially in such fine original condition)
& proud to have ALL original parts.
The hinged 34mm CASE is performed in Sterling Silver,
bearing clear English hallmarks,
including the GS sponsor's mark, alongside import marks,
925 stamp and the R.W.C. Ltd (Rolex Watch Co. Ltd) signature,
firmly situating production in the mid-1910s (1918 to be precise)
an era when Rolex was still in its formative years.
The presence of matching case numbers (on case cover & on dust cover)
and correct internal stamping further supports the originality and integrity of the piece -
an increasingly scarce attribute in early trench watches.
The dust cover is hallmarked with G.S., numbered & stamped 925
The signed enamel DIAL of gorgeous ivory colour is adorned
with elegant Breguet Arabic numerals
Timepiece is powered by the manually wound MOVEMENT,
signed “Rolex Swiss Made” & “15 Jewels”.
Comes in a box, accompanied by watch report & 6 months warranty
