This Medal was a military decoration awarded personnel of the British Army, other arms of the armed sources & to personnel of other Commonwealth countries. 

This award was established on 25 March 1916.
 
The award was discontinued in 1993 when it was replaced by the Military Cross. 
Then other Commonwealth nations instituted their own award systems in the post war period.
 
This medal is a compliance medal. 
 
  • A circular silver medal of 36 mm diameter.
  • The obverse bears the profile of Elizabeth II, surrounded by "Elizabeth II Dei Gratia Regina F.D."
  • The reverse has the inscription "FOR CAMPAGNE SERVICE" in three lines, surrounded by a laurel wreath, surmounted by Imperial Crown 
  • The suspender is ornate finely detailed, bearing words "South Arabia"
  • The ribbon is green & violet 
  • The name and service details of the recipient were usually impressed on the rim of the medal - this particular medal was awarded to R.C. Stringer, bearing "P05936 30 Jnr.Tech. R.C. Stringer R.A.F." on the edge
